Tigers promote Saupold, option Norris

The Tigers purchased the contract of right-hander Warwick Saupold from Triple-A Toledo on Friday before the team's game against the Orioles in Baltimore. Detroit optioned left-hander Daniel Norris to Triple-A to make room for Saupold.

Saupold, who is from Perth, Austrailia, has yet to make his Major League debut. The 26-year-old was 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 30 1/3 innings over eight outings -- including four starts and one complete game -- for Toledo this season.

Norris pitched a scoreless inning of relief in Thursday's series opener against the Orioles, the 23-year-old's only appearance for Detroit in 2016.
