The Detroit Tigers placed Jose Iglesias on the 10-day disabled list for a lower abdominal strain, the team announced on Thursday afternoon. Iglesias suffered the injury in Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Kansas City Royals. The club recalled infielder Dawel Lugo from Triple-A Toledo to take Iglesias’ place on the active roster.
Iglesias has produced something of a bounce-back 2018 season, his last before free agency. He is hitting .269/.310/.389 on the year, good enough for an 89 OPS+ in 464 plate appearances. This is a far cry from what he produced in 2016 and 2017, but still a ways off from the above-average offensive numbers he had in 2013 and 2015.
