The Tigers announced Friday afternoon that Jordan Zimmermann is heading to the 10-day injured list. The veteran right-hander injured himself against the Red Sox on Thursday and has been diagnosed with a UCL sprain in his right elbow.
Zimmermann started out the year hot, including a one-hit, seven-inning performance on Opening Day and another gem his next time through the rotation. His next four outings have been miserable, however, as he has surrendered a combined 19 runs over 16 2⁄3 innings.
In his three seasons with Detroit, Zimmermann has yet to top 160 innings.
