The Detroit Tigers have placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb sprain, the team announced on Tuesday morning. To replace Candelario on the 25-man roster, the club recalled infielder Dawel Lugo from Triple-A Toledo.
Candelario has dealt with wrist and thumb issues for the past couple years. He missed several games last year with wrist soreness, and was placed on the injured list for a couple of weeks in May 2018 with left wrist tendonitis. He also missed 11 days of action earlier this year with a left shoulder injury.
