Detroit — For a minute, it didn't look like this game was going to match the pre-game hoopla.
With the big-league debut of center fielder Parker Meadows, the Tigers’ debut of catcher Carson Kelly, Javier Báez playing against the Cubs for the first time since they traded him away in 2021, with former Tigers Jeimer Candelario and Michael Fulmer back at Comerica Park – there was a lot going on before the game Monday.
And there was very little going on in the game for about five innings, as the Cubs built leads of 4-0 and 5-2.
