In case you missed it this morning, the Tigers made their decision official on top pitching prospect Michael Fulmer: He’ll be starting at Triple-A Toledo. The team optioned him Friday to the Mud Hens, where he’ll pitch out of the rotation.
Fulmer pitched in four Grapefruit League contests for the Tigers this spring, allowing five runs on six hits over 7 1/3 innings with five walks and seven strikeouts. Nearly all of the damage came over the last two games, both against the Astros in Kissimmee. He started last Friday, then pitched in relief on Wednesday.
The move ends what was an interesting debate within Tigers camp over what to do with the 23-year-old right-hander.
