Tigers optimistic Sanchez has strain, not tear

Pitching coach Jeff Jones said the same, saying the fact that Sanchez is feeling the same issue as before suggests it hasn't gotten worse.

Likewise, Sanchez's agent, Gene Mato, characterized the exam as precautionary, aimed at confirming the original diagnosis.

Even if it's just a strain, Sanchez's 2015 season would appear to be over. It took Sanchez just under four weeks to get to this point, where he was on the verge of a start. As badly as Sanchez wants peace of mind going into the offseason, with two-and-a-half weeks left in the season, the more sensible option would appear to be to wait.
