On a gray day at Comerica Park, complete with accompanying sprinkles throughout, the Detroit Tigers lost badly.
There was little sunshine in this one, from left-hander Ryan Carpenter’s abysmal outing – he allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 3u2154 innings – to the Tigers’ disappearing-act offense – they scored two runs – to Nicholas Castellanos getting doubled off second base on a fly ball to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Tigers lost to the Minnesota Twins, 12-2. With the series loss, they stand 18 games behind the Twins (43-21) in the American League Central division standings.
