Tigers not concerned about cold weather in Detroit

MIAMI – The Detroit Tigers’ home opener Friday at Comerica Park promises to be exciting for the players - but cold.

“Getting rid of my allergies,” second baseman Ian Kinsler said of one benefit of going from Miami to Detroit.

The Tigers play the New York Yankees at 1:10 p.m. Friday.

Playing in the cold actually doesn’t bother Kinsler, who joked: “I actually like it because nothing’s living.” He said he thinks it’s more difficult to go from cold to warm weather.

“I feel like I get sick easier that way than from going from warm to cold,” Kinsler said.
