DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers shortstop Niko Goodrum left Wednesday's game after colliding with left fielder Christin Stewart as both players raced after a pop-up in shallow left field.
Stewart, who caught the ball, emerged unscathed, but Goodrum lay on the ground for several moments before eventually limping off the field under his own power.
Goodrum left the dugout with Tigers head athletic trainer Doug Teter. The Tigers said he has a right quad contusion.
Shortstop Ronny Rodriguez entered the game as shortstop in the third inning.
