If there's such a thing as a bright spot for a team that has lost six of its last seven games, Nick Castellanos appears to be just that for the Detroit Tigers.
The third baseman-turned-rightfielder extended his hitting streak to a career-best 13 games in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park. Entering Sunday, only New York Yankees switch-hitter Chase Headley had a better active streak (14 games).
He extended the streak with a ground-rule double in the second inning Saturday.
"I hope he stays hot. We need the offense," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
