LAKELAND, Fla. – Michael Fulmer was hoping for a comeback.
He has nothing against Michigan, he made that clear, but this Oklahoma guy – who was likely headed to Oklahoma State if not for signing with the Mets in 2011 – was wishing for the wildest of endings to this afternoon’s first round NCAA tournament game.

Against U-M, the Cowboys came up one point short. Against the Yankees, Fulmer came a couple of outs short of his goal – not that his performance in his third Grapefruit League start mattered much.
“My biggest thing is getting up, so obviously I want to lower my pitch count and throwing 30 pitches an inning isn’t going to help,” he said.
