DETROIT -- Michael Fulmer is going to Miami.
The 24-year-old Detroit Tigers starting pitcher, who won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2016, will now represent the league in the 2017 All-Star Game in nine days at Marlins Park. It's the latest honor in a young career that Fulmer said he couldn't have envisioned "even in a dream."
"It's a blessing. It truly is," Fulmer said Sunday. "Just to have the respect and votes from my peers and coaches and analysts and whoever else voted, it's an honor."
Fulmer said he was "in shock" when manager Brad Ausmus told him the news.
