MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd left Tuesday night's game with an apparent injury.
Boyd had thrown four scoreless innings but began the fifth with back-to-back walks. Pitching coach Chris Bosio visited the mound and then summoned manager Ron Gardenhire and head athletic trainer Doug Teter from the dugout.
Shortly thereafter, Boyd left the field with Teter.
The Tigers and Twins were scoreless in the bottom of the fifth when Boyd departed. He was replaced by right-hander Warwick Saupold.
Boyd, 27, had been one of the Tigers most reliable pitchers of late. He has a 3.
