TORONTO -- The Detroit Tigers can now say their losing streak has spanned four cities, two leagues and two countries.
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tigers 3-2 in the series opener Friday night at the Rogers Centre. The Tigers (36-47) have now lost 10 consecutive games, their longest streak since 2003, when they won only 43 games all season.
As has happened previously during the streak, the Tigers took a lead but held it only briefly. In the third, JaCoby Jones reached on an infield single that could have been ruled an error, advanced to third on Jose Iglesias' single and then scored on a double-play groundout by Dixon Machado.
