The Detroit Tigers announced on Thursday that shortstop Jordy Mercer has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8. His spot on the 25-man roster is spoken for, as the club has also recalled outfielder Christin Stewart from his rehab assignment with the Advanced-A Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Mercer’s injury is reported as a right quad strain, the same issue that initially landed him on the injured list in mid-April. The issue kept him out of action for two weeks, and Mercer was only reinstated on April 30.
