Tigers' Jeimer Candelario will wear wrist guard on base paths

BALTIMORE -- Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario is back in the lineup after getting a partial day off on Thursday to rest a balky left wrist.

Candelario entered the game as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning Thursday but did not get an at-bat.

Manager Ron Gardenhire said Candelario would begin wearing a wrist guard when running the bases. The brace is meant to protect his hand when sliding or diving.

"Stop the game. Put it on. Maybe that will help a little bit," Gardnenhire said.

Candelario won't wear it while hitting.

"I'm just going to use it to run the bases," he said.
