Tigers’ J.D. Martinez could return this week

Oakland, Calif. — A fright movie of a Tigers defeat Saturday night at Oakland Coliseum focused mostly on the man who was lastly and mostly responsible for Detroit’s fate, bullpen closer Francisco Rodriguez, whose two-out failings helped hand the A’s a 6-5 walk-off party.

But the Tigers also made the least of their run-scoring potential Saturday night. They left 13 men on base, struck out 14 times, and got only a single unearned run in a three-run second inning when A’s third baseman Ryon Healy made two errors and the Tigers had three hits.
