Tigers' JaCoby Jones working to shake early-summer slump

DETROIT -- When JaCoby Jones arrived at Comerica Park on Friday, he went to the video room to review his swings from the previous night, talked with hitting coach Lloyd McClendon and then hit in the batting cage before the game.

But when the series opener against the Cleveland Indians gets underway, he'll be on the bench.

"He struck out four times yesterday," Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He's probably still thinking about that."

Jones, the Tigers' 26-year-old left fielder, has been mired in a monthlong slump after starting the season with such promise at the plate.
