The Detroit Tigers have invited two of their brightest young players to Major League spring training.
Among the team’s 22 non-roster invitations announced on Tuesday are right-handed starting pitcher Alex Faedo and catcher Jake Rogers.
Faedo, 22, was the No. 18 pick in the 2017 MLB draft out of the University of Florida. He has yet to throw a professional pitch — the Tigers shut him down for the season after he pitched the Gators to the College World Series championship — but ranks among the best prospects in their farm system.
Rogers, 22, was one of three players acquired from the Astros for ace right-hander Justin Verlander last season.
