Port Charlotte, Fla. – If ever the word “ageless” can be used to describe a player in his mid-30s, put it on Omar Infante.
Infante is 35 now, his body is thicker than it was when he broke in with the Tigers as a 20-year-old in 2002, but the face, the quickness and agility remain youthful.
“He looks good so far,” said manager Brad Ausmus, whose stint as the Tigers' catcher preceded Infante’s debut by two years. “He’s swung the bat well. And he runs pretty well, better than I expected.
