— They had to wait a bit Thursday morning, but finally, around 11:30 a.m., the Tigers were informed that shortstop Jose Iglesias had been cleared from the concussion protocol by Major League Baseball and the Players’ Association.
He was expected back in the lineup for the first time since being kneed in the jaw by the Rays’ Brad Miller on April 19 on Tampa.
“He took the tests that allowed him to start baseball activity,” manager Brad Ausmus said. “But he still needed to be cleared by MLB and MLBPA doctors.”
That happened about 90 minutes before game time.
