DETROIT – The Tigers have been playing long ball to start the 2017 season.
In each of the team’s first 12 games, a ball hit by a Tigers player has left the ballpark. That’s a franchise record for consecutive games with a home run to start the season.
The club’s previous record was seven, a mark that was broken by Andrew Romine’s grand slam against the Minnesota Twins on April 12.
The Tigers, who are off today before starting a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, currently rank fifth in the Majors with 17 total home runs.
