KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Detroit Tigers got the sleep they needed, and then they got the big inning they needed.
After arriving in Houston mid-morning a week ago and then Chicago mid-morning four days later -- some of the players not getting to sleep until the sun came up -- they arrived in the heartland Sunday evening with a good night’s rest to follow.
They appeared loose and fresh before Monday night’s game. Their bats finally showed up in the middle of the game. Then, the bullpen blew up. And then, for the first time in what has been the most trying of early season road trips, the offense punched back in the 10-7 win over the Royals.
