CLEVELAND -- Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was sitting in his office shortly after being ejected Wednesday afternoon, listening to the Cleveland Indians broadcast in the background.
Then he started to fume.
The announcers, according to Ausmus, implied that the Tigers had intentionally hit home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott shortly after he ejected Ausmus and catcher James McCann in the third inning.
The broadcasters weren't alone.
When new catcher John Hicks failed to catch a pitch from Buck Farmer that struck Wolcott in the chest, fans at Progressive Field booed and jeered. Twitter pundits weighed in with their theories.
