Detroit Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer showed no rust Friday night against the Chicago White Sox, returning from the disabled list in impressive fashion.
Fulmer, who was sidelined with a left oblique strain for more than a month, pitched 4 2/3 strong innings against Chicago and left with the Tigers holding a two-run advantage. Although the lead didn't hold up — the White Sox scored six runs in the eighth, beating the Tigers, 6-3, at Comerica Park — Fulmer's outing was a promising sign.
The Tigers (53-76), who were looking to win their second straight over the White Sox in their four-game series, couldn't muster much offense against Chicago starter Reynaldo Lopez, though Nicholas Castellanos provided enough offense for the Tigers to build an early cushion.
