Tigers' Fulmer back on track after Lakeland tune-up

Chicago – Michael Fulmer, who threw 50 pitches in 80-degree weather in Lakeland, Fla., Sunday morning, was on the field Monday morning wearing a hoodie and a stocking cap, tossing in rainy 40-degree weather.

“I don’t think I needed the hat,” Fulmer said. “It wasn’t that cold.”

Fulmer has had an odd spring. Last year, he came in firing bullets right away trying to win a roster spot. This spring, after pitching more innings than he ever had before and winning American League Rookie of the Year honors, the Tigers wanted him to go slow.
