But on this early May night at Comerica Park, “The Star-Spangled Banner” stirred different emotions in a luxury box along the leftfield foul line.
As a group of 30 military veterans and their families celebrated together before the Tigers opened a series against the Cleveland Indians, the jovial atmosphere quickly changed as some saluted and others stood at attention facing the waving American flag in centerfield.
The reason for the special night? It’s part of the Military Veterans Program (MVP) by the Detroit Tigers and Fox Sports Detroit.
