BALTIMORE – Neftali Feliz has moved.
At the advice of the Tigers’ coaching staff — spotted by bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer — the right-handed reliever moved from the first-base side of the pitching rubber to the third-base side.
And its effect was seen in two hitless innings in Friday night’s 8-7 loss to the Orioles. He struck out two.
“Feliz looked good,” manager Brad Ausmus said about the change. “He seems to like it. James McCann said the breaking ball has much more depth to it, and he probably hides the fastball more from hitters on that side.
