With the Tigers scuffling — literally, as well as in the wild-card race — maybe it’s better to look toward the future.
And, maybe the future doesn’t look too shabby in Detroit.
In addition to the haul the Tigers received in a trio of deadline deals to bolster their minor-league system, Detroit also appears to be getting strong early returns from several of its picks from June’s draft. Though, obviously, it's still early.
On Wednesday, MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo highlighted 10 draft picks who are off to impressive starts with their major-league teams, and three — right-handers Beau Burrows and Drew Smith, and lefty Tyler Alexander — belong to the Tigers.
