Daniel Norris, perhaps one of the biggest mysteries in the Detroit Tigers’ organization, took a huge step forward Sunday afternoon in trying to reestablish himself as a dependable major-league starter.
With injures to Michael Fulmer and Matt Moore leaving the rotation short on depth, Norris, who has battled injuries and inconsistent pitching, made his first start this season, helping the Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, at Comerica Park.
“He looked very confident,” Tigers catcher John Hicks said of Norris, who allowed two hits and struck out six in five scoreless innings. “From jump street, he had all four pitches working for strikes.
