Tigers cut ties with Alburquerque, Feliz

Detroit — The Tigers will not tender contract offers to arbitration-eligible right-handers Al Alburquerque or Neftali Feliz, which will make both players immediate free agents.

The deadline for clubs to tender contracts is midnight Wednesday.

Alburquerque, 29, had been with the team for five seasons, posting a 17-6 record with a 3.20 ERA and 1.333 WHIP. He has been especially erratic the last two seasons, his ERA and WHIP ballooning to 4.21 and 1.548 last season.

He made $1.76 million last season and the projections were that he would get a raise to $2.2 million in arbitration.
