DETROIT -- As Dixon Machado raced around the bases following his game-winning home run Wednesday afternoon, he started to mentally prepare for what was awaiting him at home plate.
"They punched me, threw water and ice -- everything," he said with a smile.
Photos of the celebratory scrum surrounding Machado support his claims. In the middle of the scene, outfielder Leonys Martin is landing a kick on Machado's butt.
"That's OK. If we're winning, then that doesn't matter," Machado said.
The Tigers second baseman launched the second pitch of the ninth inning from Baltimore Orioles reliever Pedro Araujo into the left field bullpen, giving the Tigers a 6-5 win at Comerica Park.
