Detroit — The injury news continues to get worse for the Tigers.
Starting pitcher Casey Mize will undergo Tommy John surgery, manager AJ Hinch said before Friday’s game.
Hinch said the ligament is not torn but that it has been stretched to the point that it has lost elasticity.
Mize had been on the injured list with what had been called an elbow sprain.
