Tigers can't shake slump in San Diego, lose 7th game in a row

SAN DIEGO -- A few hours after general manager Al Avila announced that he was ready to listen to trade offers, the Detroit Tigers did little that would make him reconsider.

The Tigers were shut out 1-0 by the San Diego Padres on Friday night at Petco Park. It was their seventh loss in a row, matching the longest losing streak last season (May 3-9).

The Tigers' best chance to score came in the eighth inning, when pinch-hitter John Hicks doubled, the Tigers' first extra-base hit of the game. But the Tigers couldn't bring the run home.
