DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers are bringing up two pitchers for Wednesday's series finale against the Cleveland Indians.
Ryan Carpenter will be here to start the game. Artie Lewicki will be here in case Carpenter's start doesn't go well.
The Tigers needed the fresh arm to relieve a taxed bullpen.
To make room for the newcomers, the Tigers optioned right-handed reliever Zac Reininger and infielder Dawel Lugo back to Triple-A Toledo.
Reininger gave up three runs in 1 2/3 innings in Tuesday night's victory over the Indians. The 25-year-old also pitched a scoreless inning in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mariners.
