Tigers bore brunt of coldest weather to start a season in MLB history

BALTIMORE -- It's going to be 75 degrees and sunny today in Maryland, as the Detroit Tigers play the second game of a weekend series against the Orioles.

They'll return home for slightly iffier but still promising Michigan weather on Monday. Then comes a road trip beginning next weekend that features stops in Kansas City and Arlington, Texas, which are likely to include the first games played in temperatures that are truly warm.

No, summer has not yet arrived, but it's safe to say that an especially obnoxious winter is in the rear-view mirror.

No one is sad to see it go.
