This good: Victor Martinez led off the fifth inning with a textbook bunt single against the Indians’ over-shifted infield, placing it delicately down the third-base line.
“I don’t think anyone in the stadium knew that was coming,” catcher James McCann said. “All the more power to him."
It was Martinez's first career bunt single, and one of his three hits on the night as the Tigers beat the Indians, 7-1, in the first game of his four-game series.
“It was a lot of fun to finally get one down,” Martinez said.
