Tigers bats wake up too late as Twins cruise to another win

DETROIT -- For six innings, the only thing the Detroit Tigers could muster against Minnesota Twins starter Jake Odorizzi was an accidental hit.

By the time the bats came alive in the seventh, it was too late.

The Twins beat the Tigers 5-3 on Tuesday night at Comerica Park and will go for a sweep in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon.

After Christin Stewart's check-swing single in the first inning, Odorizzi cruised, pitching six scoreless innings. The Tigers finally broke through in the seventh with three hard hits, including a two-run triple by Mikie Mahtook.
