On Thursday evening, Athletic Detroit beat writer Cody Stavenhagen reported on social media that Detroit Tigers assistant general manager Sam Menzin has resigned from his position with the club. MLB beat writer Jason Beck has confirmed the report.
Menzin started with the Tigers as an intern back in 2012 when Dave Dombrowski was still running the team. He rapidly advanced to positions of responsibility during the Avila years, and worked in a lot of different parts of the organization including scouting and player development. He was also reportedly involved in the recruiting and hiring process for vice-president of player development Ryan Garko.
