Tigers' Artie Lewicki will be running on coffee and adrenaline if he pitches tonight

PITTSBURGH -- Artie Lewicki was charting pitches for the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens last night in Pawtucket, unaware of and unconcerned about the Detroit Tigers' ongoing rain delay.

But rain-outs, like injuries, create opportunities. And when the Tigers opted to add an extra pitcher for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader at PNC Park, they turned to Lewicki, who was due to start for the Mud Hens.

"It was kind of perfect timing," Lewicki said before Game 1. "It's above my pay grade to play chess with the players. I just focus on the day that I'm going to pitch, so whether I'm going to pitch down there or here today, I go out there and get people out.
