Thursday was the final day for major league teams to come to agreement with the arbitration eligible players. The Tigers announced terms with most of those players as of this writing, presumably with more to follow as word leaks out. The biggest of these was an agreement on a $10.15 million contract for 2025 for AL Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal.
That mark is significantly higher than some projections estimated, but being the best pitcher in the game has its privileges. We don’t know if the two parties are still engaged on extension talks or not after reports from early in the offseason suggested they were very far apart in terms.
