The Detroit Tigers continue to add depth around the diamond.
Today, they will announce more minor league signings, which include utilityman Jordany Valdespin, according to a person with knowledge of the signings.
Valdespin, 28, is a .216 hitter in four big league seasons with the New York Mets and Miami Marlins. In 2015, he hit .293 in 76 games with Triple-A New Orleans.
Valdespin hits left-handed and has experience at second base, shortstop and all three outfield positions. He will serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Toledo.
In 2013, Valdespin was suspended for 50 games as part of Major League Baseball’s Biogenesis probe.
