DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have recalled outfielder Mike Gerber and right-handed pitcher Warwick Saupold from Triple-A Toledo for Friday's doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals.
Teams are allowed 26 roster spots for doubleheaders, so Gerber will be returned to Toledo after the game when the roster drops back down to 25, the team said.
Gerber, 25, was added to the 40-man roster this winter and has not yet appeared in a Major League game. He was drafted by the Tigers out of Creighton University in the 15th round in 2014 and has hit well at every minor-league level.
