DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers selected the contract of right-handed reliever Jeff Ferrell from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday to add a fresh arm to a bullpen that was taxed in a 12-11 win on Saturday night.
To make room for Ferrell, the Tigers designated veteran reliever Edward Mujica for assignment.
Mujica, 33, had allowed four home runs in five appearances since being selected from Toledo last week.
Ferrell, 26, is 3-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 49 games with Toledo and Double-A Erie in 2017. He has struck out 51 and walked 14 in 55 1/3 innings.
