The Detroit Tigers have acquired catcher Cameron Rupp from the San Francisco Giants, according to a report from Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press. Rupp, 30, previously played for the Philadelphia Phillies, where he hit .234/.298/.407 in 296 games.
Rupp was originally drafted by the Phillies in the third round of the 2010 amateur draft. He hit well in the minors, posting solid on-base percentages in his first few years in their system. He made his MLB debut in 2013, when he appeared in four games for the Phillies.
