DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers scored two runs in the ninth inning but fell short of a comeback in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins Saturday night at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (48-69) and Twins (54-62) meet for the rubber match of the series on Sunday.
After Victor Martinez drew a walk to lead off the ninth, Niko Goodrum hammered a two-run home run to right off Twins reliever Trevor Hildenberger.
Jim Adduci followed with a single to bring the potential go-ahead run to the plate in the next three at-bats. But James McCann struck out, Victor Reyes flied out and JaCoby Jones struck out to end the game.
