Tigers 7, Red Sox 2: The offense broke out to avoid the broom

The Tigers salvaged a win in a tough road series tonight, as they pounced early to defeat the Red Sox, 7-2, and wrap up their series in Boston.

Every game in this series, the Tigers have jumped out to an early lead. Thankfully, this was a much larger early lead than the previous two games. The Tigers pounced on Red Sox starting pitcher Jalen Beeks, Boston’s #15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, who was making his first major-league start. The Tigers welcomed him rudely to the big leagues.

JaCoby Jones struck out leading off the lineup, but Nicholas Castellanos hit his 21st double of the year to center, Miguel Cabrera drew a walk, and then Jeimer Candelario hit a line drive double to left field to score Castellanos to make the game 1-0.
