Tigers 3, Yankees 4: Tigers fall short of comeback in nail-biting pitchers’ duel

The Tigers were out for another chilly afternoon game, obviously grateful that the evening games got moved up as they bundled up for the final game of their six-game homestand. Jack Flaherty was on the mound for the Tigers, looking to continue a dominant season start, while Max Fried wanted to show the Yankees he was worth his massive offseason contract. It was also a battle of the buddies, as Flaherty and Fried are noted long-time friends.

Both pitchers did what they set out to do and it was a classic case of a pitchers’ duel. If you wanted another high-scoring romp, this was not the game for you.
