In 2014, Mike Ilitch was still the owner, Brad Ausmus was in his first year as the manager (taking the helm of a strong 2013 ship from Jim Leyland). The primary pitching rotation consisted of Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, and Rick Porcello. The Tigers were top of the AL Central.
